2. Background

For those who don’t know, a vampire is a blood-sucking demon that lives and depends on a human’s blood to survive. Their main weakness is sunlight and the myth that they exist has been around for ages. Where did it all start though?
Well, some say vampires have existed since the prehistoric era but in the 18th century in Eastern Europe Vampires became the talk of the town and the word spread to Greece, Romania after that. Although there are many different stories and twist about them which has me puzzled on what to believe. I have built my own theory as well, I'm not saying it’s a very precise one but it’s the little pieces I have summed up from all the vampire TV shows, movies, stories and research I’ve heard, watched and read through out my life. There are objects that are harmful to vampires and some to keep them away like garlic for example. A branch of wild rose and hawthorn plant, crucifix, rosary or holy water is supposed to harm them. It’s said that vampires are unable to enter consecrated grounds and they cannot enter a house or building unless invited in. Once they are invited in they are welcome to come and go as they please. Not really sure where mirrors came in the pictures but vampires don’t have a reflection or a shadow because they have no soul.  I hope this background about the blood sucking demons fills everyone out there with curiosity and excitement as we dive into deeper waters about them.  As my next post we will go into detail with all the urban stories. Stay tuned and watch out for those vampires while trick or treating!
